Nowadays, knowing what type of maps we are using seems to be irrelevant for teachers. In spite of we have had problems to understand this task, it has helped us to know the different kind of projections that we can use and how to obtain the benefits of each one. Students learn how is the world and where are the countries, but how do they learn it? The majority of us like students have been influenced by the idea that Congo (among others) is one more country, part of Africa. In addition, we have been taught in History that other places such as Germany or United States are great powers. In contrast, most of people don't know that Congo is one of the most biggest countries and that is because maps have an influence on our thinkings.

Not so long time ago, Europeans were the most important people in the world and Africa was a simpler continent that could provide the workforce.  Unfortunately, the distinction between the first and the third world is even present. Although Africa is bigger than Europe, it has not got the same significance. It is obvious that the first world can grasp more opportunities in comparison with the third one. Talking about lifestyle, it is completely different, in terms of health service or education. Similarly, the first world is more advanced and it has better communication routes and infrastructures.

As future teachers, we want to transmit some knowledge to learners, as realistic as possible. For that reason, professors should be aware of the resources they employ. We also  would like to teach them that everybody is in the same conditions to grasp opportunities instead of telling them that some countries are more important than others just due to they have more money. In order to achieve this, all of us must contribute.
