Hey there! I’m Ana Gil and this week is my turn to be the Analyst of Teacher's Formation
To be honest, for me this is one of the hardest roles, as you have to evaluate your classmates and this is a little bit difficult, so I will try to be the most objective as possible.
So let's start, the task of this week was about the complexity of schools, so in order to develop the activity we read a chapter of one book "Starkey, L. (2012). Teaching and learning in the digital age. London: Routledge." After that, we had to identify the different complexities that exist, in total there were six. And finally, on Wednesday we had to bring to class our news printed in order to do a newspaper by groups.
As a result of read everything of the text and find different news, we encountered that there was a kind of social connection of the content in the task. Actually, complexity theory is a way of considering aspects of the world which recognize that events don’t happen in isolation and rarely through a simple relationship. In a complex system all the parts are connected.
From my own point of view, I consider that the best part of the activity was related to what we had learnt, all about the complex world that education means; the institutions that take part of it and the individuals that integrate it. That's why teaching is not only transmiting teacher’s knowledge to his/her students but is much more as: knowing their children’s background, getting familiar with new technologies and ict, with the curriculum and so on and so forth.
On the other hand, the worst part of the activity was to establish a connection between our news and the complexities due to the fact that sometimes it was so hard for us to relate the topic of the news with the complexity.
All these aspects have been taught in other subject matters here at university, for example, we were introduced the curriculum in a subject called ‘Planning’; we have also learnt some topics related to diversity both in ‘Educational Psychology’ and in ‘Diversidad y Acción Tutorial’ ; …As it can be appreciated, we have gone through different subjects and mostly all of them are related to each other.
That’s all up to now guys! See u next week with a new task and new roles!
